Open Source Intelligence and Violent Extremist Organizations

This chapter explores the use of open source intelligence by violent extremist organizations and its importance in understanding their motivations and foundations. It discusses the availability of previously classified documents and the challenges of analyzing and triaging them for intelligence value. The chapter also considers the potential of AI in gathering data on VEOs and the ethical challenges in researching children from ISIS-affiliated families.
