In the context of careers there's a level of social conformity do you think with people's careers. If you're from more of a working class background you have more of a need for sameness and fitting in because also you see it as like a good thing. I definitely found it really hard to let go of some of the status symbols some of the things that go with like the ladder so if you're thinking about one of the reasons why you might not have made that move earlier or moved to amazing if earlier it's probably that like need for both conformity and familiarity because familiarity feels comfortable and we feel at ease, she says.
