The next time someone asks for help or you're tempted to intervene consider three things. Think about whether you have time to see your own needs first. And how will helping make you feel will it make you feel happy or resentful? Finally wait until you are asked for help no matter what the problem is. They may want empathy and just validation more than anything else.
