People who don't get enough sleep tend to take more risks because they perceive less in the way of negative consequences. A study found that students who got less than seven hours a night were not as likely to wear seat belts or bicycle helmets. They are also more likely to text while driving and make bad decisions, such as deciding to drive when they know they feel like they're too tired to do it.
