Co-Location in the Trading World

Trading firms no longer use the open internet in the way that they once did. Instead of sending things up to the trunk and having things routed around the big bucket of the open internet, trading firms will typically have co-location sites where they put some of their servers very near to exchange switches. Co-location makes competition between professional participants more fair. It enables us to use these kinds of technologies.
