Most parents in China, especially now with this one child per family, believe that the only way to social mobility is to get their kids on college. So everything goes into teaching that kid what he needs to do to get a high score on that test. The Chinese, the North, South Koreans, the Japanese are all recognizing that the very school system that we've been trying to emulate is failing.
