The Pro-Market Zone in Action
The economic zone is a legal arrangement that allows foreign investors to come in and set up factories, often kind of sweatshops. Hong Kong was sort of lit a lit upon by Milton Friedman in 1978 when he said what a wonderful place they were far from the strike waves of England or U.S. The most well-known version of it in the 20th century is probably the export processing zone around Shannon Airport in Ireland. It's this kind of piecemeal legal arrangement that becomes the kind of machinery of how offshore wealth protection happens now.
