CHAPTER

The Role of Sustainability in Ratings

I don't think there is any correlation between the multiple rating parties, which means there's no link between what does good or what does bad look like. And why is it so hard to come up with a more predictable, more robust rating? Well, because each of the companies doing this are trying to create a moat for their own business and create a rating system that ultimately becomes similar to the rating system that we have on bonds. We're not advanced enough on the datasets for that to be effective. It is much easier just to say, green is good, brown is bad. My life would be so much easier if I could just do that.
