In the 17th century England started enacting what we would call classic mercantilist protectionist measures and especially focusing on wool. They wanted to keep the wool in England, so they made it illegal to export any raw wool or certainly spun yarn to France. Do you think the councilists are a bit of a jolt? I guess so,Yeah I mean certainly not everyone supports this because the wool and interest is not as powerful as East India Company but it's pretty powerful.
