Saadiya thinks that much of the Jewish law does simply endorse what reason can determine without revelation. But a whole class of laws, which are inaccessible to reason, are additionally laid upon the Jewish people. Saadiya: Laws concerning purification may seem arbitrary, but they encourage us to think little of our bodies and to concentrate on God.
