An important fork in the road came when lucy and her husband were asked to attend the trial of the driver who had run the stop sign and tebone the car in which abby was riding. Lucy asked herself, would going to the trial be good for me or bad for megr is full of choices. And so when we were invited to go to the trial, i used a strategy that asks, encouraged you to ask yourself, is doing that going to help me or harm? Harm me in my quest to survive this loss?

We’ve all heard about the five stages of grief. But what happens when your experience doesn’t follow that model at all? Resilience researcher Lucy Hone began to question how we think about grief after a devastating loss in her own life. She shares the techniques she learned to help her cope with tragedy.
