Weight loss is often tied into societal pressure to constantly improve and to constantly develop yourself in some where form. As you lose weight your metabolism slows down and at the same time your body becomes more efficient at running on less calories. So as a natural physiological response it then becomes tougher to maintain that weight loss so it sounds ridiculous to celebrate stagnation.
