If there is an increase in central fatigue, then there's going to be a decrease in your ability to recruit the highest of the threshold motor units. calcium amoletivity mechanisms inside the muscle can also have interference effects but at the mechanical tension level. Each set you do has a little bit less of a hypertrophy stimulus in each one. And this is actually where the exercise order effect comes from.
