Do You Know How Much You Drink Before and After Exercise?
For athletes, I think the body weight changes is the gold standard for percent of dehydration. You really see exactly how much you sweat corrected for the amount that you drink during practice. This is also a very good educational tool for athletes because they do not understand how much they lose. And there are studies after study, after study, that when athletes drink on their own, they rarely drink more than 60 or 50% of what they lose. So they really develop exercise and use what we call exercise and use dehydration as a respond to exercise or training.
