Don't worry about counting calories. Eat more protein than you think you should and that's probably still going to be under the required amount in order to keep the muscle on. You're going to displace cravings for other BS, you know, foods that you probably would have eaten otherwise. I've been on a target of 150 to 200 grams of protein a day. That's my minimalist approach to keeping on muscle. How do you get there while traveling? Well, I'll tell you some of my tips too.
