The Effects of Tranexamic Acid on Neurological Outcomes
The primary outcome they looked at here was favorable neurological outcome at 6 months. For this assessment of whether the patient was high risk they used something called the coast score which ranges from 0 to 7 with one point being assigned for entrapment in a vehicle. Now if that patient who they had concerns about had that coast score of 3 or more they were randomized then to receive either 1 gram of tranexamic acid as a bolus followed by an infusion over 8 hours or saline.
