Why Parents Don't Matter What I Do
When Judith Rich Harris' book, The Nurture Assumption Came Out, and then it was all this kind of national hand-ringing, what do you mean, parents don't matter? And it's like, well, hang on. But just put another point on that. Of course, it matters what you're doing right now today with your child because they need to be loved and have a nice day and a nice week and so on. It also reminds me a little bit when Dan Gilbert was talking about this before his happiness book came out,. He made some comment about having children doesn't make you happier. In fact, it makes parents less happy.
