The Importance of Having a Conception of God

Epicurus says the gods represent an ethical ideal to which we can aspire. He agrees with Plato that our goal should be likeness to God, in so far as is possible for us. As a rule, the possibility of attaining godlike pleasure is unfortunately rather remote.
