The Confusion of Client-Based Matchmaking
The same language can be used for things that used to live on the client, which is why I tried to make that distinguish that earlier. It's just when a game becomes like cross-platform, for example, you can't really have things live on a client anymore because if you log on Xbox and then you log on your computer, the server needs to actually sync those two things together. And so that's where the terms can get sort of confusing where there's not necessarily a backend that's associated sometimes with a similar feature set or something that looks similar.
