There is a strategy that works very well for some people and doesn't work at all for other people. For many people abstaining is easier than being moderate because it's just easier. Some people will eat things as long as they're not ultra-high in sugar or high in fat, but others won't need to buy them. So an approach that could work very well for one person might not work for you with anything else.
