The Power of Self-Flattery
When you bias it, you have to be amplified. Because you're going to have plenty of evidence there. It also encourages you to think about certain kinds of people in certain ways that reinforces all your biases. Classroom grades not only sort out by racial and class different, they even sort out by skin-till. I think some of that's bigotry, but I don't think even boasted bigotry. If you think you're special and not given to it, you're probably going to be more likely to do it. Most teachers and most health care professionals think that, oh, I've dealt with this long enough. You're not.
