I don't think there's a moral equivalence here with Putin. I think what Putin is doing is a very different kettle of fish. The attack on civilians is central to it rather than the objective as opposed to collateral damage. Civilian casualties are of the magnitude that you saw in the fireballs of World War II in Europe and Japan. This is a different kind of violence that is deeply disturbing.
