Running and Hiking in Ultra Marathoning
Running is more musculoskeletal stressful and hiking in most situations is going to be more cardiovascularly stressful. We really don't know from a performance context what should drive the run to walk transition in an uphill condition which I think is a critical component in all of ultra marathoning. If we could do that better everybody would perform better instantly yeah no but at same time like you said go by feel and and and i'm a strong believer in human self optimization.
