The Obstacles to Making Games That Shape Plants
The obstacles to making games, trellises, that shape plants in ways we choose are not mechanical ones. The obstacle is a state of mind, it's an attitude, it's a worldview. Fundamentally, it is intent. We begin to create mechanics that simulate lofty concepts such as duty, love, honour and responsibility. Games do need to wrestle with the issues of social responsibility. Having respect for players means giving them real challenges. Challenges are sophisticated as the best stories give them.
