The Importance of Fitness in a Triathlon

If there was any athlete that could probably do it, it's Brayden just given his experience running over that terrain and the familiarity that he just has with the race in general. He said to me that a swim fitness probably got him through the first hour of the paddle and then it was just sort of gritting his teeth for the next 40 minutes. The river crossings were normally in more benign weather conditions but no, they had to manage every river crossing. I think they literally had an army of people there helping them get across because the river was running so strong and so deep which is why they ended up having a short and paddle.
