Do you think there was some kind of golden age of racial discourse in the country where at least it ca mapped on to reality and made more sense, or was more productive? Me, i guess i could. I idealize the civil rights movement until roughly the summer of 19 66. Once you get into black power and stokely carmichael, and it being more about emotion and theatre than actually changing lives for people on the ground, i lose the threat. And yes, there were people who thought that martin luther king was a fanatic. Theye were people who wished frederick douglas would shut up. But i find it very to see what those people were going
