The Importance of Failure Feedback
In the Stone Age village, you'd be in front of God and everybody. And whatever failure feedback that was causing your depression would be likely widely known by everybody. You're crawling up in a ball and dying in the modern environment, that's what you feel like doing. But it's warm and cozy. It's like you don't have poverty and hunger that are forcing you to take the most effective action possible. As a result, you're not getting any feedback from normal systems that would be telling you that you're being efficacious.
