The Free Tunkai Movement
After the protest had been going for about a year, one day a guy appeared at Cotti called Tunkai who's in his early 50s and he's clearly got some kind of cognitive difficulties. He became like a much loved staple of the camp. The police took him back to this psychiatric hospital right at the other side of Berlin. At which point the whole of the kind of Cotti protest camp turned into a kind of free Tunkai movement,. They descend. And I remember thinking as Nairamam told me: In some sense, in this culture, we are homeless, right? Our sense of belonging isn't big enough to meet a natural human need for a home
