The last few weeks of training for your race are your peak weeks and your taper. So, to be running a tune up race, finding a 10 K, a local 10 K, I would say at least at least four weeks before your goal race. You can even do it before you even start your half marathon training cycle. A time trial is you racing the clock or you racing the distance on your own.
