I was introduced to Zen Buddhism in high school by a teacher. I remember as I was leaving feeling the sense of well-being, the sense of happiness and reflecting on the fact that nothing much had changed in my life. But there was this sense of happiness. And I realized that it wasn't our external circumstances that determined our happiness. It was really this interior landscape and that we have some control over that. Yeah. Exactly what we were talking about with the parable is whatever we practice grows stronger. We know this now with neuroplasticity, our repeated thoughts, emotions, behaviors, they shape our brain. They actually change the physical architecture of our brain.
