From your book and from everything that people read about the CIA, it does sound like they have success in terms of interfering and influencing domestic politics. So why do you think they weren't successful in China? Or is it a myth that they were successful anywhere else as well? Great question. I would probably challenge the idea that it's successful really anywhere, because if you look at Guatemala and Iran, where there are CIA backed operations to topple governments,. They don't work in any sustainable way. And so these covert efforts to topple one government and put a quote unquote democratic government in its place.
