The First Officer Didn't Call Out for This Accident, but He Did It Correctly
Airbus issued a service bullet that could be related to the accident. The bulletin concerned a modification to the automatic flight system. It disengages the auto pilot when a force in excess of 15 kilograms, which is about 33 pounds,. However, airbus marked this a service bulletin as recommended and not mandatory. Therefore, china airlines decided to do this service bulletin when it was time to service their flight control computers. There was not an opportunit to do this before the flight occurred.
