Language, the Language Instinct, Competence

Theory of mind essentially depends on kind of a recursive mentalizing. Being able to picture what other people might think. Thanks to language, we also have the ability to learn from each other. And so as society tries out innovative arrangements and some of them work better than others, we can share our ideas about which ones that work and which ones that don't. There is scope for progress, for social improvement given the toolbox that evolution gave us.
