What Was the Biggest Change With the Roman Empire?
Roman army was not simply fighting for the defence of rome and its environment. As their power increased, it became impossible for a citizen to be a soldier fighting on the frontiers of persiaonor on the rhine. You had tohave professional armite to do that kind of thing. People who were er totally dedicated to to wart the greek citizen army were, most of the time, they were farmers. And there was only a very limited time of the year when they actually did fight.
