The Importance of Endometriosis
The endometrium is the pillowy bed for a potential fertile egg to nestle down into and grow. When it's found outside the womb, it can cause enough pain to impact every part of a woman's life. Doctors have to look inside the pelvic cavity using a type of keyhole surgery that was described in the first episode, a laparoscopy. To top it off, there's only one way to confirm a diagnosis of endometriosis - no scan or blood test.
