The research on supplemental melatonin is I would say overwhelmingly positive. Maybe because it's plant based it just doesn't work very well at all so it doesn't cause bad effects. It definitely does cause an effect though. So I tested myself, I took 20 milligrams for six months and it probably improved my sleep. In fact, it quantifiably did to a certain extent but I backed off to 10 milligrams of time release which is what I get the best night sleep when I do that.
