The Importance of Local Content in Marketing
The idea of data wasn't really that much around with thrillist in the beginning. It was more about like how many newsletter subscribers do we have right and how many people actually open it but there wasn't this your mongas amount of data where you could do all these tests. And when we started to shift our emphasis toward search oriented local content, all of a sudden, not only were we getting like reams of data we weren't used to just because it's being so much more sophisticated and nuanced than email analytics. But if you have something sort of algorithmic like the Google search algorithm to start sending people your way and you get it right.
