The reactionaries of yesterday become the conservatives of today. Something that starts out as fancy becomes foundational later. T.S. Eliot, for example, who is the bedrock of a lot of conservative thinking throughout the 20th century, was really reacting against something and pretty out there in his reactions. And so it's just fascinating how all this develops.
