The Importance of Flux in Cross Country Training
In cross country, it starts with going back to things like the natural fartleks. When you're training in Houston, Texas and the humidity, the traditional so-called lactate threshold tempo runs go out the door because it's a billion degrees. The difference between for me, track and cross country chain with flux is we anchor track training around an athlete's submax capacity. Speed is an illusion. There's only strength. So that if max is 100% submax is like 95%. And then everything kind of is a watershed from there.
