The Difference Between a Vaccine Designed to Prevent Infection or Reduce the Probability of Symptoms
Vaccines in general are designed to limit disease, to protect against severe disease. To expect a vaccine to actually exceed that threshold is not really inadequate or a reasonable expectation. Even if you're infected with SARS-CoV-2, we know that you don't have durable protection against infection. You can still be reinfected.
