An understanding respiration rate is a good to start. The higher the sensitivity to c o two, the easier the protocol should be. Most professional athletes are not capable of this type of exhale test quite yet. If i'm working out, ye, we all understand respiration rate goes up. But if my psychology, if i'm a bit more anxious, or i'm dealing with more cognitively, my respiration rate trails that as well.
