Meditation and Stress Reactivity

Stress reactivity on its own is not a bad thing. It's simply a survival mechanism that gives us an advantage if, in fact, we're facing a life threatening situation. As meditators, we are eliminating the backdrop of deeply rooted stresses. And as we release accumulated stress from the body during the deep restfulness of meditation, then the available adaptation energy grows and grows and grows. That affords us to be far more adaptive in the face of any new change of expectation than we had been before.
