The Importance of Mindfulness in China
mindfulness has been practiced in China for centuries through Buddhism. The modern kind gained popularity in the United States in the 1990s after John Cabot Zinn developed an eight-week stress reduction course. In 2019, the World Health Organization estimated that 54 million people in China suffer from depression and about 41 million suffer from anxiety disorders.
