The Importance of Crop Rotation

In 1700, the average farm size in southern England was about 65 acres. Land use was transitioning from a feudal system to a capitalist system. Charles the Vice-Count Townsend introduced a four-year crop rotation on his Norfolk estate. He'd plant wheat, Turnip's, Barley, and next year Clover then start all over again.
