The Best Political Novel I've Ever Read
There are certain points, especially in the opening and then midway when he or rather Calvino indulges in a sentence that's like three pages long. Almost immediately he's wondering whether he's right, because what difference would it make any way? So in that sense, it seems to me like the best political novel I've ever read. But the fact it's done so briefly, like this novella will get you through a two hour train ride and you have been in a strange place, a really strange place.
