The Desert Is Like the Opposite of Barrenness
When you're in this place where you assume there's nothing there and you start to find it, it feels incredibly rich and meaningful. It's like there's no limits to human ingenuity in which you can extract out of the landscape that looks barren. One thing that Linda always talks about when she talks about how harsh and dangerous and difficult the desert can be is its cooperative culture. She really admires and loves that sense of interdependence that people have when they're living out in the desert.
