I think we all have a preference for clarity over ambiguity when it comes to communication expectation. The lesson being, in addition to honing the deep work capability, don't be worried if it's not obvious what you should be deep working on. Do the work, do the leg work, have the conversations with the mentors, do the research, do the observation and put in the time to decode your job like a professional.
