It's not so much the total amount of sleep. Its not reall sleep deprivation a it's really the circadian disruption in not having consolidated sleep and not having enough bright light during the day. Your body also does make cormonal changes, especially if someone is breast feeding. And it's a loathsome eactive sleep quality that leads to post partem depression. I wouldn't worry so much about how much total sleep one is getting. It's the other things that we need to pay more attention to.
