The God of the fifth way seems to be nothing but a mind that is lucky enough or smart enough to rule over natural things, all natural things and make them act as they do. In other words it sounds really like the famous line by Joyce Kilmer: Poems are made by fools like me but only God can make a tree. But this objection rests on a misunderstanding I think. The idea is not that we can't make trees and that whoever can is a God. As a matter of fact Thomas is not saying that onlyGod can make trees. Other things can too. They do it all the time.
