In the book you talk about people not actually knowing how to draw a bicycle or understanding how a zipper works. You know, in every day life in an average person's life. So just merely experience of familiarity with something doesn't guarantee accurate knowledge. The more we think we understand them, but what we really are doing is just following the noise. We may just be sort of understanding noise and not understanding the actual underlying workings of the system.
In this episode of the You Are Not So Smart Podcast we discuss the illusion of knowledge with Christopher Chabris, co-author of "The Invisible Gorilla." After that, we eat a triple-ginger molasses cookie while discussing non-believed false memories.
